Mirror, Mirror

The Magic Mirror socks are progressing well. I used a toe up version of a gusset and Eye of Partridge heel. That worked out well and now I'm in the home stretch for the first sock. I even wrote myself notes so that the second will be easy to replicate (it's truly unbelievable). Also, I am working on G's Thomas socks still. I'm calling the pattern Chevron Rib Socks. The only thing making me crazy now is that two, count 'em--two, of my Brittany needles broke. They snapped right as I was knitting with them. So I'm switching between pairs with my ever trusty Crystal Palace bamboos. *love* them!

This is the first time I've used Tofutsies and it is great. I'm using my Brittany Birch dpns, which I thought long lost, and this yarn is great. The feel is very nice and they will be great in the fall. I didn't realize that they were made with soy silk and cotton, so that will be nice to wear. Over all, the color is ok, but I'm not a super fan of the marled look. The pattern on tap for this yarn is one I spotted on Ravelry called Magic Mirror socks. Pretty straight forward, but they look complicated.

Thomas Socks

Well, the socks for G are coming right along. The pattern will posted shortly as well as photos of them. I used the yarn he helped dye with Wilton's food colors (and a splash of McCormick too). We dyed Knit Picks Merino Fingering weight yarn and it stripes very nicely. The pattern is easy, but looks like it could be a little fussy. He is very excited to have new socks, but I think he'll mostly use them to run and slide on the hardwood floors.
